The Wild Dog

The term wild dog is usually used to describe the African wild dog and the dhole of Asia, both of which are endangered species. The African wild dog is so endangered it is now listed as being threatened with extinction. Both of these wild dogs are pack animals, living in groups averaging between 8 and 15 dogs that are communal hunters. The African dog is one of the few mammals to care for its sick, old, or disabled members. Wild dogs generally weigh in between 35 and 70 pounds, the females generally being a little heavier.
