Dog treat recipes

If you have a dog in your house you know that most dogs have or will eventually have bad breath. Here is a recipe which you can try that should help get rid of the “dog breath”.

Bad Breath Banishers

• 2 cups brown rice flour
• 1 Tablespoon activated charcoal (find this at drugstores, NOT the charcoal briquettes used for your grill!)
• 3 Tablespoons canola oil
• 1 egg
• 1/2 cup chopped fresh mint
• 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
• 2/3 cup low fat milk

Preheat your oven to 400F. Lightly oil a cookie sheet. Combine flour and charcoal. Add all other ingredients. Drop teaspoonfuls on oiled baking sheet, about 1 inch apart. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Remember to store in an airtight container in your refrigerator.

Peanut Butter Puppy Poppers

• 2 cups whole-wheat flour
• 1 tbsp. baking powder
• 1 cup peanut butter (chunky or smooth)
• 1 cup milk
Preheat your oven to 375F. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and baking powder. In another bowl, mix peanut butter and milk, then combine all dry ingredients and mix well. Place dough on a lightly floured surface and knead. Roll dough to ¼ to 1/2 inch thickness and use a cookie cutter with your favorite shapes. Bake for 20 minutes on a greased baking sheet until lightly brown. Cool on a rack, and store in an airtight container.

Garlic Bites for Dogs 1 cup flour

• 4-6 cloves garlic
• 1/4 cup hot water
• 1/8 cup chopped nuts or seeds
• 1 tbs. vegetable oil
• 1 egg, beaten
• dry milk powder

Combine and mix all ingredients in bowl (or food processor) and add enough milk powder to make your dough firm. Roll dough to thin sheet about ¼ inches, sprinkle flour on sheet and cut dough with cookie cutter of your choice. Place on oiled cookie sheet. Bake at 300F. for about 45 minutes, for hard lightly toasted biscuits. Let sit in turned off oven to finish drying if you like this will help to make the treats crunchy.
