- What is Methigel Urinary Acidifier used for?
Methigel is a supplemental source of methionine which aids in maintaining acidic urine.
- How Methigel Urinary Acidifier should be used?
The usual dose in cats at least 1 year in age is ½-1 teaspoonful twice a day. The usual dose in dogs is 1 teaspoonful twice a day. To stimulate taste interest, place a small amount of Methigel on the animal’s nose or directly into the mouth.
- What are the side effects?
Large doses of Methigel may cause gastro-intestinal upset when fed on an empty stomach.
- What special precautions are there?
This medication should not be given to animals with liver or kidney disease. This product should not be used with other urinary acidifying diets. This product is not intended for use in pregnant or nursing animals. Give this medication with food.

Contact your veterinarian or veterinary emergency room.
