- What is Proin Chew Flavor Tab used for?
Proin is an adrenergic agent used in the treatment of urinary incontinence in dogs.
- How Proin Chew Flavor Tab should be used?
FDA approved for use in dogs only, the usual dose of Proin in dogs is 0.4-0.8mg/pound every 12 hours.
- What are the side effects?
Side effects when using Proin may include restlessness, irritability, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure and loss of appetite.
- What special precautions are there?
This medication should not be used in animals allergic to it. Do not use in animals with glaucoma, enlarged prostate, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, heart problems or high blood pressure. Do not use in pregnant or nursing animals. Do not give this medication with ephedrine or epinephrine and do not give within 2 weeks of using a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as selegilene. Use caution when this medication is given with digitalis, NSAIDs such as aspirin or Rimadyl, tricyclic antidepressants such as clomipramine, and beta blockers such as propranolol. Always tell your veterinarian and pharmacist what other medications your pet is taking.
- In the event of overdose?
Contact your veterinarian or veterinary emergency room. Symptoms of overdose may include increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, seizures or coma.
- How should I store Proin Chew Flavor Tab?
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed. Store this medication at room temperature, away from excess heat, light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
