2/10/18 Update: Paige has been having some incontinence issues and also drinking more water than normal. She was recently diagnosed with Cushing's disease. She is on medication for both the incontinence and the Cushing's disease and is responding well to it. While Cushing's isn't something that is curable, symptoms can be managed through medication and regular monitoring by a veterinarian.

__________

Paige is a lovely 12 year-old Chocolate Lab/Basset mix female who doesn’t deserve the bad hand she’s been dealt recently. We went to a local shelter to pull a dog with special medical needs and while walking through the kennel, we saw Paige who looked so sad and forlorn sitting in her cage. She truly looked like she was on the verge of tears. When we asked the shelter staff about her, they said she was surrendered by her family who no longer wanted her as they now had a puppy. We just couldn’t leave without her so Paige is now with Canine Lifeline and in a foster home while she waits to be welcomed into a new home as a treasured member of the family. After a trip to the vet for a dental cleaning and to treat ear infections and some hot spots on her skin, this wise and wonderful girl is now ready to make a fresh start. She has a lot of love to give and will be so grateful to the person or family who gives her a soft bed to snooze on and daily walks around the block. There’s nothing like the love of a senior dog and Paige will prove that every day as a very loyal and devoted companion. She gets along well with other dogs but prefers her canine friends to be calm and mature like she is. A quiet home would suit Paige best as she’s looking for a place to relax and enjoy life without a lot of commotion.  Paige weighs about 49 pounds but needs to lose 5-10 pounds to be at her ideal weight. Her adoption fee is $125. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email [email protected] if you’re interested in Paige. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. All of our dogs come to us from county dog pounds so we have no history on them. We also have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 4-5 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 24-48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there. Please visit our website at www.caninelifeline.org to see more photos of Paige and to submit an online application.
