11/26/17: Thor recently had a Breed DNA test, and the results indicates that he is 50% Beagle, 12.5% Golden Retriever, 12.5% Chow Chow and the remainder is of undetermined mixed breed. No matter what his mix is, he's a blend of lovable and hugable! Here's the link to the full report: http://bit.ly/2zFtU7v

Thor is a lovable 1-year-old Beagle mix male. He looks like a long-legged Beagle but has very interesting markings and a pink and black speckled nose like an Aussie. He wound up in an over-crowded shelter as a stray, so we have no history on his previous living situation.

He has a zest for life and greets everything with curiosity and enthusiasm. He loves giving kisses and getting attention from his humans. He will try to get your attention by jumping up on you. We’re working on curbing that behavior, but sometimes you just can’t help but give him a big hug when he does that.

He’s an energetic dog that loves playing with toys…especially the squeaky ones, and he also enjoys playing with other dogs. He does seem to think that the toys belong to him, so playtime with another dog should be without the involvement of toys. He knows sit, but will need basic obedience training to learn the other rules of the road.

He loves doing zoomies when he’s outside and chasing after critters, so a physical fenced-in yard is required. When he gets in that playful mode he will try to entice you into a game of chase. He will grab at your feet or arms with his mouth. It’s not an aggressive behavior, but is a hallmark behavior for a herding breed. Because of his play style we are recommending that any kids in the home be around 11 or older. If you have cats in the home, he is not the dog for you. He wants to chase them every time he sees them.

Thor weighs about 35 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped.  All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email [email protected] if you’re interested in Thor. Please visit our website at www.caninelifeline.org to see more photos of Thor and to submit an online application.

An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. All of our dogs come to us from county dog pounds so we have no history on them. We also have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 4-5 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junk mail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
