We want you to enjoy parks where your dog can safely run, roll over and socialize with canine friends. Time spent in a dog park helps to satisfy your dog’s cravings for canine companionship, and lets them burn off extra energy by running and playing with other dogs off leash in a safe, contained area. Bark for a Park is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to advocate for and support the planning and launch of fenced-in, off-leash dog parks in the greater Birmingham area. The first dog park in Birmingham opened in George Ward Park in October of 2009. A dog park is in the construction stage for the city of Hoover. Dog parks are also under consideration in Homewood, Gardendale, and other metro Birmingham communities. Bark for Park will make its expertise, support and volunteer resources available to all metro Birmingham, Alabama municipalities who have an interest in dog parks. We were founded by and are 100% operated by a group of dedicated volunteers who love their dogs and their community, and who want to be a part of a vibrant culture of healthy, happy dogs and dog parks. Please join in this great effort.
