Dog Tag Collars

If you have a dog and you want to be a good and loving owner to him, then it would be a good idea to select a dog tag. These come in various designs, sizes and styles. A tag includes basic information like your pet’s name, your home address and phone number, etc. These are useful when your dog runs away or gets lost. A pet with no ID tag or any other means of identification is in danger of ending up at the dog pound. Each and every year, thousands of dogs run away from their home and something bad happens to them. Such a thing can be a tragedy, especially if the dog was well integrated in the family. In order to avoid such heartache, it’s best to buy a tag for your pet as soon as possible.

Dog tag collars are just like regular collars, except that they feature a special ID plate. This plate contains all the necessary information that someone needs in order to return the dog to its owner. These are comfortable, come in many sizes and models, and some dogs might prefer them over regular collars anyway, because there are no pieces swinging when they move their head. No matter what size your dog is, there’s a collar out there guaranteed to fit him. Just remember that the best collars are those that allow you to slip two fingers in between the collar and your dog’s neck, but are not loose enough to let your pet get its head out of them, or worse, get caught up into something and strangle it. The standard dog collar sizes are x-small/small, medium, large and X-large. Use a measuring tape with your pet to figure out the size and the correct tag needed. You should buy a collar when the dog is still a pup. That way, he’ll be used to it when he’s an adult. Dog collars are made from a variety of materials, including nylon and chains. There are electronic collars that use electroshocks, but those are not recommended, for reasons that are more or less obvious. You probably know this already.

There are also tag clips available, and these are usually designed for smaller dogs or breeds. They’re quite inexpensive and can be custom designed so as to work alongside your pet’s current collar. They have different shapes and designs, such as circles, bones, paws, etc. Tag clips can be customized to include personal information of the dog’s owner, just like regular dog tag collars. There is a difference between training collars and tag collars. The former are for training and should be removed when that is done, while the former should be worn at all times.

So buy a dog tag collar as soon as you can, because otherwise you are putting your pet at risk. Don’t be cheap, especially when it comes to such a treasured member of your family! Tags can save you a lot of money, worries and heartaches.
