<b>The<i> Braque Francais</i></b>

History: The braque Francais originates from southwest France and the Central Pyrenees. It is one of Frances oldest pointing dogs, going as far back as the seventeenth century. There are two types: the Gascogne and the Pyrenean. The lighter, racier Pyrenean is more popular and considered to be closer to the original braque Francais.

Physical Description: This is a strong, medium size dog with very loose skin. The eyes are yellow to brown, the nose is brown, and the ears are drop. The tail is naturally short or docked, although some Gascogne types have a long tail. The short, thick coat is brown, brown and white, brown and white speckled, or brown and tan.

Height: (Gascongne): 22 to 27 inches

Weight: 55 to 70 pounds

Height: (Pyrenean): 18.5 to 23 inches

Weight: 39.5 to 55 pounds

Temperament: Both types are gentle, easygoing dogs. They enjoy working and are intelligent and eager to please. Because they are sensitive, positive training is best.

Activity Level: High

Best Owner: It does best with an active, outdoorsy family in a rural or suburban home.
