History: The Ariegeois was developed to hunt rabbit, hare, and fox in the French region of Ariege. It was created from crosses of local hounds, grand bleu de Gascogne, and grand Gascon-Saintongeois.
Physical Description: This is a medium-sized, muscular dog with a wide, deep chest. It has a long, narrow head, a black nose, and brown eyes. The long drop ears are of fine leather. It has a long neck and hare feet. The long tail is tapered. The short, fine coat is white with black patches. The skin corresponds to the hair color.

Temperament: This is an even-tempered, hardworking dog. It is generally friendly and gets along well with most people and other dogs.
