Livestock and dogs
Dogs are considered a predation threat to livestock in agricultural and rural areas. This is why dogs can be legally shot for harassing or injuring livestock, including poultry, and while we do not necessarily agree with this practice it is the law. Most of the time, the laws give no alternative but to euthanize a dog if it is seen killing livestock. If it is a licensed dog, there are some rural communities that have laws that require livestock owners to notify the dog owner before euthanizing him. There are also cases where the dog owners are asked to compensate the farmer for their loss, we feel this is the best option for everyone, after all the dogs are doing this due to primal instincts not for malicious reasons.
