There are additional laws that protect working dogs, besides the same laws that apply to companion dogs—such as bite and leash laws, and neglect and abuse laws. They are protected from being abused or overworked during their training or work. The dogs cant be used for drafting work within urban areas. There are states that have completely banned greyhound racing and some forms of hunting.

Laws for Working Dogs

Law enforcement dogs are also protected for their work. They cannot be willfully distracted or prevented from doing their work. These dogs and their handlers are protected from being prosecuted if a dog has bitten during work.
