Antifreeze laws and your dog

Written by:
Antifreeze is a very dangerous, toxic, and usually fatal substance. It causes kidney failure. Unfortunately, every year there are thousands of dogs who die from antifreeze poisoning because of its sweet taste that the dogs are attracted to. Some states, including California, have laws that require the antifreeze manufacturers to add a bitter ingredient to make it less appealing to dogs if their antifreeze contains more than 10 percent ethylene glycol. However, wholesale antifreeze is exempted from this law and that means that most of the mechanics use the more toxic kind.
