Dog proofing your garage

Written by:
Look around your garage and be sure that all the chemicals are stored up and put away out of the dogs reach, just like you did in your yard. Keep the floor of the garage clear of all the tools and other equipment. If there are spills or car drippings, clean them up. One of the most common causes of poisonings in cats and dogs is antifreeze. It is highly toxic and has an attractive sweet taste to it. Do not take this risk lightly. Use a less toxic brand of antifreeze, one that is made with propylene glycol instead of ethylene glycol. A good option is Sierra Antifreeze.

Dog proofing your garage

Never use poison anywhere on your property, and remove any set rattraps or mousetraps that are at the ground level. You would be surprised if you knew what kinds of things a dog can get into. During a rain, dogs have even died from rat poison dripping from out-of-reach spots.

Dont let your dog in, even when you think its totally safe. A garage is really not a place for a dog—there are too many hidden dangers for him.
