Character
As usual, it is best to get an Australian Bandog while he is still a puppy because it is easier for him to get used to your family. This is especially advisable if you have children, because you avoid exposing them to any kind of aggressive behavior that a previous owner might have taught him.

The ideal living place for this dog would be a huge garden, so you may want to reconsider adopting him if you live in an apartment. He needs lots of exercise and room to run around and play. The beauty of this dog is that he can be a guardian, loyal friend, and lovable companion at the same time. He becomes extremely attached to his owner and protects him at all costs. Owning an Australian Bandog essentially means you do not have to worry about protection anymore. These dogs are also bred to accompany people on expeditions, but they are actually good at just about any activity you may need a dog for. Be careful when exposing these pups to stress and excessive pressure, as this can cause stubbornness, lack of discipline, and aggressiveness.

Appearance
A male Australian Bandog can reach about 28 inches in height and 40 kg in weight, while females will weigh about 35 kilos and reach a height of 26 inches. You will love the coat of this dog, which is extremely pleasant to the touch because of its soft texture. Their coat comes in several colors, from blonde and red to mahogany or blue. White spots are not very frequent, but some dogs may have them near the toes or on their chest.

If you raise this dog from a fragile age, you will notice that his eyes are light-colored when he is just a puppy, and they develop darker shades once the dog starts evolving. Below the dog's jawline, you may notice thick folds of skin. This is actually a common characteristic of the Bandog breed.

Training, Health & Hygiene
In order to keep these dogs healthy, it is important for them to spend lots of time outdoors. Play with them as often as you can. They will enjoy games such as catch or frisbee. Thanks to their posture, they are excellent for entering dog shows and contests and have a good chance of winning. They enjoy competitive sports and any other physical effort that is suitable for an athletic dog. While he is generally a healthy dog, some problems may occur because of faulty training or poor breeding. In order to avoid certain complications, it best to make sure that training progresses slowly.
