I purchased a raised feeder which has an enclosed bottom to store their food, which I find saves me time and space when it comes to feeding them. It also helps to remind my family to feed them, as we are all very absent minded.
The biggest reason I purchased the elevated dog feeders is because I have done much research over and over again (and heard from many animal experts) that it helps dogs with the digestion process. Stop for a second and ask yourself, dont I digest better sitting up rather than lying down, or even standing on your head? Thats pretty much the equivalent for your dog.
There is a tangible difference from when they ate out of standard floor level bowls their intestinal gas has dramatically decreased. I have not changed foods or treats, only the height at which they feed themselves from. It is important to remember that if you feed him low quality food, or an abundance of table scraps, a raised dog dish wont make a bit of difference.
