The Bonsai Bulldogge is a breed that is especially produced by a handful of professionals near Toronto for people that love a dog that does not lack in personality or looks. This breed, at maturity, does not usually get larger than 30 centimeters (12 inches) and does not weigh more than 10-11 kg (25 pounds). As you can imagine, these small dogs are muscular and pretty much resemble the regular bulldog in many respects (aside its size, of course). At the moment, the breed is yet to be recognized by kennel clubs, including Canada and the United States.
The Bonsai Bulldogge comes in a wide variety of colors, all of which are accepted. They have a short coat and their tails are generally docked. The Bonsai is tenacious, just like its regular-sized counterpart, not always being aware of its size when interacting with people or other animals. These dogs are extremely loyal and have an excellent temperament, these being just a few of the reasons that make them suited for being watchdogs, and pretty good ones actually! They usually go well together with humans, other animals or small children if you get to introduce them to other living beings from an early age. Also, it is recommended to take your Bulldogge out for daily walks.
The Bonsai Bulldogge needs to know who the boss is, so be sure that you always make him understand that you are the pack leader by having a confident and firm way of acting when it comes to rules that he must obey. This is not something restricted to one breed or another, as many animals need to have a constant, rewarding and stable hierarchy in the “pack” in order to behave properly.
The Bonsai Bulldogge is an animal that does not show major health problems. Their health should be maintained, as noted above, through regular exercise and daily walks (something applicable to almost all breeds of dogs, however!).
As you can find out for yourself, these dogs are more than OK in pretty much any indoors environment, as their size is a constant advantage. However, they are not suited for constant outdoors living, as their coat is very short and lower temperatures could harm them. So, if you take one of them out for a walk and it is freezing, you should equip them with an extra coat that should balance the natural shortcoming.
The grooming needs for this breed are always at a minimum. Having short hair, they do not require extra care in this respect. Also, the amount of exercise they require is not something that should take too much of your time, as long as you get them out of the house on a daily basis a few quick and energetic strolls outside should do it. In order to keep their looks healthy, all you have to do is to give them a thorough bath once in a while. Being bred with this in mind, the Bonsai Bulldogge is ideal for apartment living.
