The caravan hound is an Indian breed which is more famous under the name of Mudhol Hound. Actually, this is quite an ancient breed originated in the western part of India. The first name indicates that, in the past, these dogs used to follow nomads who went in caravans from one place to another. The second name links to a small town in one of the Indian districts. There are also several other local names for this breed, such as Pashmi, Maratha or Karwani. This dog is a sight hound that hunts by speed and sight.
