The Korean Dosa Mastiff A Grand & Dignified Friend

The Korean Dosa Mastiff, otherwise known as Mee Kyun Dosa, is a dog breed from South Korea. It is often confused with the Japanese breed Tosa Inu. This breed is known since the 19th century and has been bred as a companion dog. This breed is very rare outside its native country.

The Korean Dosa Mastiff is a huge dog with a fearful appearance. Everything at this dog is large and imposing. The body is larger than tall and it seems rather heavy and low. However, its movement are pretty quick and responsive. The head is large and massive. The skull is round with a wide forehead. The forehead has wrinkles formed by the loose skin. The eyes are small and dark in color. The look is calm and steady. The stop is deep and abrupt.

The muzzle is not very long, but full of wrinkles. The nose is big with wide nostrils. The nose and the lips are completely black. The lips are loose and the superior lip falls over the inferior one. The jaws are strong and massive. The ears are set high on the head. They are large, drop and curled. The tip of the ear is rounded. The neck is extremely thick, with a dewlap. The back is straight and firm. The chest is not too broad or deep, but the shoulders are muscular. The tail is long and powerful and the legs are strong and stable.

The coat is very short and close to the body. It looks soft and glossy. The color of the coat can be chocolate brown, mahogany and red. The dogs have one solid color, but there are some rare cases in which some have a white patch on the chest.

There are some differences between genders. The females are smaller than the males. The females stand 23.5 to 27 inches tall (59 to 68 cm) and weigh 145 to 165 pounds (65 to 74 kg), whereas the males are 25. 5 to 30 inches tall (64 to 76 cm) and weigh 160 to 185 pounds (72 to 84).

This dog is kind-hearted and steady. Although it seems fearful and extremely aggressive, it is the ideal guardian for a family. It is suitable for all kinds of children. Its patience and kindness makes it the perfect companion for the small ones. However, keep an eye on them so that they will not harm the little one without wanting.

Despite its weigh, the Dosa is a good protector and it knows when to become cautious. It loves to be in the company of humans and it does not tolerate too well loneliness. It needs daily walks, but is not very active outdoors. It is quite lazy. Early training and socialization is a must, regardless of its good nature.

Grooming is minimal - they require some brushing from time to time, but the folded skin needs to be cleaned weekly.

The Korean Dosa Mastiff is also a huge lap dog that needs a nice and caring family.
