The Hungarian Puli A Living Mop with a Wicked Mind

The Hungarian Puli is an ancient breed of dog. The dog was brought from Asia a millennium ago. Since then, it has been kept as a sheepdog. This unusual dog had a stable program in the past - it would herd and guard the sheep during the day, and a bigger dog would take its place during the night.

The Hungarian Puli is a medium-sized dog with a unique look. The shape of its body cannot be actually distinguished because of its Rastafarian appearance. However, it has a compact and sturdy constitution with a square shape. The head is large, with squared skull and prominent eyebrows. The eyes are round with a curios and vivid look. The colour of the eyes is dark or blue. The stop is abrupt, the muzzle has the same length as the skull. The nose is quite large, with wide nostrils. The nose is always black. The jaws are massive and strong. The neck is short and thick, with a straight back. The chest is slightly curved and wide and the legs are not as short as they might appear, they are stable and firm. The tail is carried high.

The most outstanding feature of this dog is its coat. The hair is long, curly or wavy and forms round cords. It is waterproof. The colour of the coat is usually black, but it can also be cream, white or gray. The dogs were supposed to have black coat to be distinguished by the shepherds from the sheep. There are no noticeable differences between males and females. Both the males and females are 17 inches (44 cm) tall and weigh 25-27 pounds. This amazing dog is very agile despite its appearance. It is capable to run fast and to change directions instantly. It is eager to gather the sheep any time and to please its master. If the sheep do not follow its lead, it will jump on the sheeps back to make it listen.

This worker is very loyal and becomes very close to its family. It is very brave and protective despite its size. It likes to be the centre of attention and to amuse people. However, this little buffoon must be trained from an early stage. It is suitable for older children and it becomes very playful. In general, it is friendly with other pets, but very cautious when it comes to strangers. It is a good guardian and tends to be extremely protective with its family. The owner must be very firm because this dog tends to act too bossy and independent sometimes. It requires rigorous exercises and all sorts of jobs to remain alert. This tireless little dog can live outdoors or in a large yard. It needs daily walks and large space to run and play.

These dogs do not shed. They must be brushed every one to two days and the cords must be regularly separated to get rid of the dirt or brambles. In general, they are very healthy and can live up to 16 years.

The Hungarian Puli is an energetic dog that expects a dynamic person or family who can offer it an alert life and a cosy shelter.
