A Simple Method of Eliminating Cat Urine Smells Successfully

Every cat owner should know several ways of eliminating cat urine smell. It is inevitable that your cat, at least at first, will urinate places he should not. Knowing how to clean this up will make everyone happy. Cat urine has a very unpleasant smell, so the faster you can get rid of it, the better.

One of the easiest ways to clean up the mess is to simply blot the urine spot left by your cat on the carpet using paper towels. Try to absorb as much urine as possible by using pressure. Just repeat the process until there is nothing left to absorb - this will make things easier later on. Next, prepare the following mixture: 3 parts vinegar and 1 part water. After you mix the ingredients, spray it on the urine spot and the area around it as well. If you a UV light or a black light, turn off the lights and turn on the UV light. The urine will glow showing you exactly where to clean.

The next step in eliminating cat urine smell is to dry up the area again. Use paper towels or a rag in order to absorb the solution from the carpet until the spot is almost dry. Finally, put some baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, on the area. The baking soda serves multiple purposes, acting as a deodorant, odor absorber, and a great natural cleaner.

Now, prepare another solution. This time it will contain a mild dish detergent and hydrogen peroxide. Use one teaspoon of dish detergent with ¾ cup of hydrogen peroxide and cover the baking soda. It is best to test the solution first on an area of your carpet that is not usually visible, just to make sure that it does not harm the carpet. If you discover that it discolors your carpet, use colorless dish detergent. Rub the cleaning solution into the carpet - use your fingers, or even better, a scrub brush. In order to protect the skin on your hands, use rubber gloves and wait for the foam to kick in. Blot the area up again and wait for a few minutes, allowing it to dry.

Now use the vacuum on the clean area. This is an efficient way to remove all the urine particles that might still be in the carpet and also the particles of the used cleaning agents. After you have done this, you should check the rest of the carpet for any urine spots; you never know... Check your carpets in all rooms of your house and do not forget to check your clothes. If you discover urine on your clothes, you can follow the same steps. Just add some (1 cup) of apple cider vinegar to the mixture.

Follow these steps and you will be pleased that you have succeeded in eliminating cat urine smell.
