- What is Drontal Plus used for?
Praziquantel with pyrantel pamoate and febantel is a broad spectrum dewormer used for the removal of tapeworms, hookworms, roundworms and whipworms in dogs.
- How Drontal Plus should be used?
Praziquantel with pyrantel pamoate and febantel is FDA approved for use in dogs and puppies at least 3 weeks old and 2 lbs. The usual dose of small dog tablets for 2-4 lbs is ½ tab, 5-7 lbs is 1 tab, 8-12 lbs is 1 ½ tab, 13-18 lbs is 2 tabs and 19-25 lbs is 2 ½ tabs. The usual dose of medium and large dog tablets for 26-30 lbs is 1 tab, 31-44 lbs is 1 ½ tabs. 45-60 lbs is 2 tabs, 61-74 lbs is 2 ½ tabs, 75-90 lbs is 3 tabs, 91-104 lbs is 3 ½ tabs and 105-120 lbs is 4 tabs. Tablets may be mixed with food. Fasting is neither necessary nor recommended.

In clinical trials there were no drug related side effects.
- What special precautions are there?
Praziquantel with pyrantel pamoate and febantel should not be used in animals allergic to it. Because humans can contract tapeworm, hookworm and roundworm from animals, it is important to maintain good personal hygiene. It is also important to eliminate fleas on the pet and in the household and to not feed the pet rodents or uncooked meat or fish. To prevent reinfection, daily cleanup of stools is recommended. This medication should not be used in pregnant animals
- In the event of overdose?
Contact your veterinarian or veterinary emergency room. While rare, symptoms of overdose may include vomiting, loss of appetite or diarrhea.
- How should I store Drontal Plus?
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed. Store at room temperature, away from excess heat, light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
