Adopt a Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat)

Lucy came into my son, Dominic's life in 2007 when rescued her as a puppy. Lucy is now a 8 1/2 year old white head brindle Pit Bull. The breed was quite a topic of controversy and Dominic was motivated with a passion to care for her. Lucy became like a child to Dom, he worked with her daily on training and behavior. Lucy quickly became a loving and loyal companion with amazing traits. Dom and Lucy enjoyed long afternoons cruising the green belt on his skate board and lazy afternoons on the couch always by his side. The two were connected at the hip and Dom adored his sweet Lucy girl. Lucy was always welcomed by all his friends and she was always everyones favorite. Tragically, on November 11, 2011, I lost my beloved son Dominic due to a fatal car accident. Devastated and overwhelmed with grief, I knew I had to take care of Lucy, in honor of my son. His roommate offered to take care of her. It was a relief. She is extremely social and loves all Dom's friends. But as time moved on, so did they. A year later, I had to find another home for Lucy. It was very challenging! I was beside myself because due to the breed and the fact that we all had our own dogs we were unable to keep her. It broke my heart. Once again, I had to find another home which I fortunately was able to do, she quickly adapted. She is so resilient and loving. But recently, her owner at the time moved to Texas 4 months ago without much warning and did not take Lucy with him. My daughter informed me of a wonderful pit bull rescue, "Lost Paws" and how they would be the best opportunity for Lucy to find her second chance and the forever home she deserves. Lucy never really recovered from the loss of her Dom but we believe the right family is out there for her to feel that love and compassion once again. Lucy is a beautiful, strong, loyal and sweet dog. She gets along terrific with children and people however, I would caution her with other pets. She would do BEST as the only pet! She is happy and healthy. She awaits for a forever home to give her all the love and companionship she so deserves.
