Adopt a Terrier / Maltese / Mixed (medium coat)

Bubba is a sweet little guy – “IF” he likes you.  He is believed to be a mix between a Terrier & Maltese (honestly, your guess is as good as ours) He is very content just snuggling up with his "person"... He gets along with dogs – if he is allowed to be the alpha dog - however, can be a bit jealous if he isn't the center of attention when other canine friends are around. Bubba is looking for a forever home... Would do best in a mature home without young children chasing him. 

Bubba wears a "belly band" in the house because he was never housetrained as a puppy/ young adult and he was allowed to lift his leg in the house. The belly bands work great and are low cost. He does not wear his belly band at night.  He is a “territorial marker.”

Bubba does come across at times as aggressive; however, Bubba does better with new people who initially ignore him when entering the house. Once he realizes you mean him no harm, he will jump up on your lap and ask for snuggles. Bubba doesn't like when people he doesn't know "coo-chee-coo" over him at first meeting... but he warms up fast if he accepts you – but we don’t let our guard down, because Bubba can become aggressive if he’s done with your attention.

Bubba has been through a lot of transition in his short life – he originally came into the Castaway Critter rescue from a high kill shelter in 2011; he was with one foster until August 2013 – but then transitioned to another foster home until he found a special adopter who accepted him and all his quarks.  Unfortunately, his forever momma passed away in May 2015; so Bubba came back to his foster family.  Bubba has been struggling with some skin issues, but back to his healthy self now and ready to try his hand at finding a loving forever home again.

Bubba loves to go for walks – he will bark at people/ cars/ other dogs/ bicycles, etc. 

Bubba does NOT like cats; so a home without any felines is a MUST.

Bubba has been evaluated by a dog behavioralist – and noted that he is fear aggressive and a resource guarder.

Experienced dog owner is a MUST.
