Phoebe Ann the Dog needs a home
I would make a great addition to a home with just women in it. Sometimes I get scared and anxious around men and boys, and act out with fear. I have been offered some free training sessions by a wonderful woman from Teamwork's, which I'll be starting in January 2018! These sessions are a starting point for me to overcome my fears, but it can take a long time. You see, I was owned by a young man that abandoned me and my puppies which is how I came to be in a foster program. It is unclear whether he was mean to me (though I was very malnourished), or whether I was just severely underaicialized with men other than him. I am grateful that he did give me up, because I really like having a full belly and a warm place to lay my head at night. I also love having lots of doggy playmates to romp around with! My foster home has lots of dogs in it and I get along with all of them. I do like to run and play so a home with another playful dog would be preferable but not required. I feel more confident when I have other dogs around but know I could build confidence as an only pet with a patient adopter.
I love to get belly rubs and spend time chewing on yummy toys. If you come up to me and sweet talk me I will roll over on my back and ask for some scratches! Even though I was malnourished when I was taken in, I do not have any food aggression. I know how to sit, and I walk pretty well on a leash, but still have some learning to do. I do not like to hop into the car, but once I'm in I ride very well. At my foster Mom's house, I do not sleep in a crate, but I am okay in a crate if necessary in my new home. I managed to escape from a crate when I first got to my foster Mom's house, but I did not destroy anything and honestly just prefer to chill out with the other dogs or play with them when she is not home. I am also trained how to use a doggy door.
Please consider making me your new best friend! I am a really awesome gal and am already spayed, up to date on shots, on monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative, and microchipped! My adoption fee is $225 and applications can be filled out at secondchancenc.org. If you have any questions about me, please contact my foster mom At [email protected]
You can also fill out an application to get the adoption process started. Adoption Application
