Adopt a Miniature Pinscher / Feist

Miniature Pinscher / Feist Dog

Lewis the Dog needs a home

Min Pin/Feist Mix, Male, 8 mos (as of 11/17), 18 lbs

Name: Lewis

Suspected Breed(s): Miniature Pinscher/Feist Mix

Gender: Male

Age: 8 months

Weight: 18 lbs

Personality: Outgoing, Trainable, Playful, Adventurous, Friendly, Energetic, Brave, Quick Learner, Smart

Observations with Dogs: Lewis is interested in other dogs and is very playful, though at times he can be dominant. Lewis is working on his introductions to other dogs on leash because he sometimes barks.

Observations with Cats: Lewis would do best in a home without cats; he is too interested in them.

Observations with Kids: Lewis would do well in a home with children who are a little older. He is a very energetic puppy and has not learned to play gently yet.

House Training Progress: No accidents

Crate Training Progress: Lewis goes into his crate easily and settles down very well! He sleeps through the night in his crate and waits for his foster parent to wake up in the morning.

Location: DC area foster

Rescued From: Pickens County, SC

Additional Information: Lewis is an energetic and inquisitive puppy. He loves playing with toys and investigating new and interesting things. He doesn’t let his small size stand in the way of satisfying his curiosity. He often stands on his hind legs to get a better view of things! Lewis is very smart pup and will respond well to obedience training. He already knows the commands “sit,” “drop it,” and “crate!” Lewis is a respectful roommate, sleeping peacefully through the night and waiting patiently in the morning for his foster family to wake. In his foster home, Lewis is crated 4-5 hours a day during the work week and does extremely well in his crate. He also lives with two other dogs who he loves to play with! Still a puppy, Lewis is very energetic and sometimes plays a bit rough. He is still learning how to curb his rambunctiousness in playing with people and other dogs. Lewis is more than just playful, though. He is a sweet and affectionate boy who loves an occasional cuddle and kiss! His confidence and playfulness will bring his new family adventures every day! Apply to meet Lewis!

If you are interested in meeting a dog, we require an adoption application. Visit http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adopt.html to apply. If a dog has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon.   If a dog has "NEEDS FOSTER" listed, they are still available for adoption. Information about our current dogs in need of fosters can be found here: http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/current-dogs-in-need-of-a-foster.html and the application to foster is here: http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster.html.   City Dogs Rescue is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).   Prior to arrival, all of our dogs are spayed/neutered (unless specified) and given shots for Rabies, Distemper DHPP, and Bordatella. They are tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Anaplasma, and Ehrlichia. They are dewormed at least twice and given a health check by the vet.  Most dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken or crate trained. Our adoption fee is $395 (including puppies) unless noted -- senior dogs are available for an adoption fee of $200.   We do our best to disclose all health records and known health conditions to adopters. Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations and health tests, but does not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR & CK.  City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.   We also update our Facebook page daily with new dogs.
