Adopt a Tortoiseshell / Tabby / Mixed (short coat)
Lulamae Barnes the Cat needs a home
DOB: 1/1/14
Lulamae Barnes is a gorgeous and loving tabby/tortoiseshell mix. She was rescued from the streets of Downey. All the neighbors in the community where she lived fed her, and some of them even took in her kittens (she had about four litters that they know of), yet nobody bothered to get her spayed or bring her inside and give her a real home. Amazingly, she still trusts humans and will make biscuits for belly rubs, head butt your hand for a good petting, rub lovingly against your legs and happily to play with her favorite toys. Lulamae is very photogenic, with her exotic markings and gorgeous yellow eyes. She has a little nub of a tail – whether this was result of some accident or she was simply born this way may never be known – but it makes her even cuter and more unique. Lulamae is a good jumper, and is quite a queen, who enjoys being above it all and looking down upon her human minions from high countertops, or the top level of her cat tree.
Lulamae has tested positive for FIV (https://kittenrescue.org/2017/03/what-is-fiv/). Cats with FIV often get passed over because people worry about the diagnosis. However, given proper care and attention, an FIV+ cat will often live the same lifespan as an FIV negative cat. The disease is extremely hard to transmit from cat to cat and it requires direct blood contact (typically from a deep bite wound). It is not transmissible to humans or any other species. Lulamae has spent too many years looking for a loving home. If you can offer this sweet deserving kitty some love and attention, please email her foster mom!
