Adopt a Bluetick Coonhound

Bluetick Coonhound Dog

Roy the Dog needs a home

Bluetick Coonhound, male, 7 years old, 78 lbs

Dog Name: Roy

Suspected Breed(s): Bluetick Coonhound

Gender: Male

Age: 7 years

Weight: 78 lbs

Personality: Snuggler, Easygoing, Goofy, Calm, Quiet, Gentle, Smart, Patient, Friendly, Trainable

Observations with Dogs: Good with most dogs when off-leash in fenced area. At one point he was in a foster home with 3 dogs and they got along well. Roy needs to work with on-leash introductions and would be best in a home without small dogs.

Observations with Cats: Would do best in a home without cats.

Observations with Kids: Good and gentle with children – including babies and toddlers.

House Training Progress: In progress

Crate Training Progress: Does well in the crate when you are home

Location: DC area foster

Rescued From: Pickens County, SC

Additional Information: Roy is an absolute sweetheart and a gentle soul. He is very friendly and wants very much to be the world's largest lapdog. Roy is gentle and loving with kids and adults. He enjoys walking around the neighborhood, going on hikes, and, like any good hound, using his nose as much as possible. In his current foster home, he lives with two other dogs who he does very will with. One of his foster’s dogs has anxiety issues that cause him to bark in Roy’s face, but Roy never reacts. However, little dogs and Huskies sometimes activate Roy's prey drive, so they are best kept separate. Roy enjoys his rest and devotes a good part of his day to naps. He’s the perfect dog to curl up on the couch with and enjoy a book or movie! Right now, Roy is building up the confidence to be home alone, and he needs someone to give him the love and consistency he deserves in life. With the right home, we are sure he will blossom! Apply today to meet him!

City Dogs Rescue is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).

Prior to arrival, all of our dogs are spayed/neutered (unless specified) and given shots for Rabies, Distemper DHPP, and Bordatella. They are tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Anaplasma, and Ehrlichia. They are dewormed at least twice and given a health check by the vet.
Most dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken or crate trained.
Our adoption fee is $395 (including puppies) unless noted -- senior dogs are available for an adoption fee of $200.

We also update our
Facebook page
daily with new dogs.
