Cattle Dog / Pointer / Mixed (medium coat) Dog

Myrtle-Sponsored Adoption the Dog needs a home

Habersham County Animal Shelter; Clarkesville, GA

Five months ago, my world turned upside down. My human, who was an elderly lady, became ill. Very ill. Her family came and gathered her up, and brought her to Florida with them, to spend her remaining time in assisted living near them.

But, nobody got me. I didn't get to go with her, and I was left behind. The family called and explained to the shelter people what happened, so they could go get me. I didn't want to leave my home I had always known, but there was nobody there to take care of me. When I first came to the shelter, I was missing so much hair. I had such bad fleas that mt back end was bald. The people here gave me medicine, and nice medicated baths. Soon my fur grew back in and I felt like a pretty lady again!

Fast forward to today. I'm still homeless. Well, I have a roof over my head, and I get food and water, and basics like that, so I'm grateful for all that, but I want a home again. 5 months is a long time to wait for someone to make me their special girl.

A nice man comes to the shelter just about everyday to walk dogs, and he always makes sure to take me out. I love going on walks. The lady here makes sure I have a blanket at night, because I'm a good girl and I don't shred it! She says I need to be comfortable. I'm thankful for these people, but I want my own people.

I'm mellow, I have good manners and I'm not a loud mouth. Sure, If someone is somewhere they shouldn't be I'll let you know, but other than that, I'm a quiet girl who just wants to lay on her bed and chew bones- till it's time for a walk of course!

I'm starting to get worried that nobody is going to take me home with them. That nobody wants to love me.

Here's some pictures of me! I may not be the prettiest girl but look how my fur has grown in so nicely since I first came to the shelter!

If you could, come meet me. See if I'd make a good companion for you. I would do better in a home without small children. My name is Myrtle, and My Animal ID#A35996732 (but the people here know me by name). I'm about 5-6 years young. I'll be waiting for you!
