Dex is a handsome husky who dances in appreciation when you take him for a walk.  He loves toys, especially balls he can run and catch and chew up.  Dex is energetic and active and always up for an adventure but he also loves belly rubs and attention.  He walks well on a leash and he would make a great running or hiking partner.  Dex will sometimes give a playful growl, which if you are not use to huskies, this is a trait that some have, but he has not been aggressive towards any of his caregivers at the rescue.

Dex would do best in an active home with someone who is experienced with the husky breed.  He gets along with other dogs and is currently living with several in one of the rescue's yards.   Dex should not live with a cat as he has not been cat tested and most huskies have a prey drive.

Dex is a very fun boy to be around and can liven up a room or your whole home if you would adopt him!

NORTHERN BREEDS: All of our Husky/Northern breeds require a home visit to check for appropriate fencing and, if needed, to offer tips on containment.  You can quicken your adoption process by sending us some yard pics, focusing on the fence lines, when you submit your application.

Please keep in mind if you want to own a husky or malamute you will need to be open to the fact that containing this dog may require you to install a hot wire system (cost is approx $100) this is quite often needed to prevent digging, climbing or chewing through fences.  A hot wire is typically the best route to start with for proper containment and peace of mind.  Some of our dogs will require this fencing method, prior to adoption, knowing they have a history of escaping and will either jump or climb over your current fencing.  For most yards installation of a hot wire is simple and can be done in under 2 hours.  

Northern Breeds are beautiful dogs but can have challenging personalities.  They can be demanding and very destructive by chewing or digging and if not exercised they may be hard to contain when their needs are not met. Please learn a little more about the breed on our website Home Page.

Dex has had his age appropriate vaccinations brought up to date with Rabies (4 m & older), heartworm tested (4 m & older) and/or started on prevention, basic dewormer, neutered and microchipped by 24Petwatch with free registration that also comes with 30 days of free 24Petwatch Pet Insurance
