Adopt a Domestic Short Hair (short coat)
Monika and Soleil the Cat needs a home
NOTE: In the interest of serving as many cats as possible, Feline Rescue occasionally promotes cats being taken care of by our friends and supporters. The cat(s) in this posting are NOT Feline Rescue cats and any adoption that may occur is an arrangement strictly between two independent parties.
Monika and Soleil were Mexican street gatos who made their way to MN with the person who fed them and are now looking for indoor homes.
Monika (AKA Momma Cat) is really quite sweet. She always has this angry look on her face but really is the sweetest and calm of the group. Tolerates other kitties but has not problem if someone bothers her will swat them away. She does like to be pet and was always the first to come to greet me when I came to feed them. She plays exceptionally funny. She will look almost in the opposite direction but be able to catch or pounce on anything in a quick motion. At one time she found some piece of silicon from maybe a window and began to play with it and after a few moments would then do a complete jump in the air and flip in the opposite direction. After watching this I did manage to get a video of this silly play of what looks like such a serious kitty.
Momma Cat had a rough life since over the time taking care of her she had 3 different pregnancies. Despite my attempts I couldn’t catch her before the next time she got pregnant except for the last time where she was what looked like a week from giving birth I was able to trap her. I took her to my house because it was late at night and my vet was closed, where I let her out of her carrier to give her food and litter on my terrace. My terrace is enclosed and has a wall that is over 6 feet tall and thought she would be safe but I was wrong she was so scared she managed to jump over the wall despite being huge and pregnant. I searched and searched but failed and could not find her. But, I did not ever give up hope or give up on her and every day looked for her and every night searched the area. Then over a month after she escaped I was in my car going to the airport to pick up some friends and saw something out of the corner of my mind. There she was and I screamed “MOMMA CAT!” She stopped and recognized my voice, she was pathetically skinny and no kittens to be seen. Sadly, she either lost them or they perished due to the harsh environment. It took another 3 weeks to gain her confidence when I finally trapped her again and immediately took her to the vet where she was sterilized and then re- released with her group in the Marina. My hope for her is that she finds her Forever Home and can live out her life in a safe, warm house and never have to fend for herself again. She taught me how that no matter what life throws at you that you just have to go with it and to never never give up!
Soleil is a very special kitty since she is a red tabby or orange tabby and more than 80% of orange tabbies are Male. Soleil is a girl! She gave birth to 2 kittens one which was taken from her when it was several weeks old and the other I rescued and domesticated and sterilized and vaccinated and then fund Her Forever Home. Yes, Soleil had another little mini me and a girl as well! She is a bit timid but will let you pet her all the way down to her beautiful fluffy tail. He also loves to play and is more to herself then with the rest of the group. Does not have problems with other cats or kittens.
Monkia and Soleil get along well and are looking for a home together. For more info contact Ann:
