Nikki the Dog needs a home

Meet Nikki!  She’s a 1 1/2 year old puppy that’s full of that puppy playing energy. She loves her toys and playing fetch. Nikki was trained at OLK9 Hampton Roads (Thank you, Jessie!) prior to coming to her foster home. She listens wells to basic commands and will walk beside you when she is told to Heel. For safety reasons we have also used a leash while walking with her, but she rarely pulls. Nikki prefers a home where someone will be home the majority of the time, as do all puppies. We have been crate training her for when no one is home, and she will now go there on her own to lie down. 



 Nikki has a beautiful wavy coat that looks thick but is actually very soft and fluffy. We haven’t noticed any of the normal shedding that goes with a Shepherd so far. She has gotten a little nippy a couple times, (puppy play biting), when she’s overly excited and playing but she corrects well. She lives with 4 children between ages 9 and 15 and seems to enjoy their company. They have taken her on walks and had no problems. Nikki will do well with someone who can keep up with her energy and provide mental stimulation for her.


 


Nikki is good with other dogs, but is a handful for many, so she would not be a good fit with an older dog who doesn't want to play or have her in his/her face. She is best suited to dogs her size or larger. 
Nikki should not be with cats as she seems to want to chase them at this point.
