Pumpkin the Horse needs a home
Stinky Twinkie (not our favorite race name!), aka "Pumpkin", is an 18-year-old 15.3h registered chestnut Thoroughbred mare. She rides both in English and Western tack at the walk, trot, and canter. We have also taken her over small fences. Pumpkin goes through all of our arena obstacles like a pro: bridges, tarps, noodle curtain, etc. Pumpkin has comfortable gaits, a soft mouth, and appreciates an educated rider. She has good ground manners, and stands well for the vet & farrier. She is UTD on deworming, vaccines, and farrier (she wears front shoes due to flat feet). She loves to trail ride the most, and has recently went on the trails at Mendon Ponds where she crossed bridges, went through water, and was happy to follow the horse in front of her. Pumpkin has participated in a natural horsemanship and centered riding clinic with Heidi Potter and did fantastic away from the farm and in the group lesson style clinic. She also attended our Benefit Trail Ride at Mendon Ponds Park, and did wonderful with 45 other horses around! Pumpkin would make a great partner for trails, or even hunter paces!
Pumpkin's only quirk is sometimes she gets antsy being mounted, and can jig for a bit, but she settles down after a few minutes. We feel it was an issue stemmed from her training at the track. She was seized in a cruelty case years ago, where she was emaciated with a foal at her side. Despite not having the most caring background, she is a wonderfully sweet mare who bonds with her person!
Suitable for an Advanced-Intermediate rider.
