FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS: Presley loves to cuddle with her family. She will jump into a lap whenever given a chance:-) She has never met a stranger or a biscuit that she didn't like. She likes to keep her people within paw's reach and likes to stay close when relaxing.
She lives with two foster sisters – one dog is a little bigger than Presley, and the other is a little smaller. After a fairly short introduction period, they are the best of friends. She MIGHT be ok around cats, after an introduction period. She has had only a limited exposure.
Presley relaxes comfortably in her crate if we need to be away for an extended timeframe.
She eats in her crate, and follows a routine: crate up, sit, shake, wait, (put food bowl down), (pause), OK – eat! (we don’t close the door to the crate – that is just her eating location)
She is energetic, and loves to run! -- but she is wary of thunder and lightning – and we think she might be afraid of the dark.
Presley loves tomatoes – and would be delighted to have her ‘own’ tomato plant!
Presley is really smart, and knows many obedience commands. She walks well on a leash (in appropriate surrounds without close distractions). She loves to take brisk walks to burn off some energy. She knows sit, stay, wait, leave it, finish, touch, focus, shake – and many more.
Mostly, Presley has great house manners – she does like to cuddle on the couch!
She has been around a lot of different people, including children. While she is excited when initially greeting new people, she quickly settles down. We have never seen her have a problem when people “mess with” her feet, tail, ears, etc.
Presley will be great with someone who will love her all the time and be her leader. She is not a good choice for an unleashed dog park, or an environment where she will be around dogs she doesn’t know so she would not do well in apartment/condo setting but somewhere she can run happily in a fenced in yard. Presley would love to find a forever family that would be willing to continue her training so that she can reach her full potential.
EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: BFPA received a heart wrenching plea about a heavily pregnant dog who had been taken into a rural high kill shelter, only to give birth on the cold concrete floor the following day. Thankfully, a wonderful foster family opened their hearts to her and her 7 newborn puppies. Presley raised her puppies (they've all been adopted) and she is now waiting for her own forever family. Will this be your family??
