Adopt a Shepherd / Shepherd / Mixed (short coat)

Meet Guera! She is the most loyal girl to ever cross our path and just wants to be with her people. She’s cuddly, sweet, submissive and loves a good, long belly rub. She is a Shepherd mix with a heart of gold. She’s estimated to be 2 years old and weighs 54 pounds. The only thing that Guera loves more than her people, are other dogs. She plays so well and you can see the happiness in her eyes and the joy in her perky ears! She had a serious soft tissue injury on her leg when she joined the Duck Team 6 pack, but her devoted foster mom took great care of her and she’s completely healed up and runs and plays as though it never happened!

Guera is shy around new people but will come out of her shell once she trusts them. She was initially very leery and scared of new sounds, but after having lived in a home with children ages 5 and 8, she’s no longer phased. Speaking of the kiddos, Guera is very accepting of them. The younger child constantly gives her bear hugs, which she has grown to love. They are teaching her how to play fetch. She bounces like a gazelle after the ball and is still working on the retrieving part of the game.

She is potty trained, kennel trained, doesn’t get on the furniture and walks well on leash. She would be an excellent walking or jogging partner for someone because she has great energy and needs daily exercise for herself as well. She loves taking rides in the car, taking in all the new smells or curled up in a ball. She truly needs a young playful furry friend in her daily life because it is what makes this girl happy. She knows basic commands now such as “sit”, “kennel” and “go get it” during fetch.

She goes to work with her foster mom every day and is well loved in the office. She has grown so accustomed to being an important member of the family that she does have some separation anxiety when alone. She simply wants to be where her people are because she loves them. Over time, she has relaxed considerably and her new owners will have to understand that this is definitely workable, but does take time and patience to adjust. A playmate to spend time with during the day would make it much easier on her to transition into a new family. When she is comfortable in her home, her personality is incredibly playful and wonderful!

We’ve already mentioned her love of people and dogs, but she also lives with a cat and she is respectful of her. The cat rules and Guera knows it! She is definitely a family dog, great energy outside and enjoys down time inside too.
