Our little boy Maru came to us from Alabama. Originly it was told to us he was about 4 years old, after getting him home and seeing him in person, we feel he is a bit younger then this, maybe more like 1-2, and weighs in at about 23lbs.

We did not know much about Maru's past, but in the first few days we could tell it must have been quite a traumatic past.  there were times where he would cower in fear, and have terror attacks. I would have to sit on the floor with him and talk to him in a soothing voice until he would calm down.  He was also very fearful of his foster dad in the beginning, and took a lot of time for him to warm up to him.

He was not house trained and was very fearful of his crate. From the start though he had a great relationship with his 2 foster brothers, a 40lb Husky, and a 80lb husky lab mix.

It has been a little over 2 months and man has our little boy come so far! He just about house trained ,there have been a couple of accidents.  He has learned to tell us when he needs to go out, and we know that he just about has it.  He now loves his foster dad and will snuggle up to him on the couch.  He will go into his create, with just a little cookie, but no more fear of it.We truly believe that he knows now he is free and no longer has to be afraid of anything.

This active little boy loves being out side, and walks on a leash great.  He enjoys car rides as well.  He has been in large group gathering with small children was super friendly to everyone, and not once showing any fear. He loves rough housing with is foster brothers, and is overly curious about the his cat brothers, so he should go to a home without small animals. He does enjoy being held by his foster mom and will jump into her arms to be carried around any chance he gets.  He also prefers to go to sleep while snuggle next to her.

Maru is looking for his furever family, and hope someone will choose him, and give him all the love and snuggles he desires, and deserves.

Maru is being fostered in MD. Anyone wishing to adopt him should plan to travel to MD to do so.

~~The Last Resort is a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in our foster homes all up and down the east coast. We do not have a facility in which you can visit. We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it’s like to have them live in your home. Part of our process, once pre-approved, is to speak with the foster for the dog you’re interested in. If you’re still interested in adopting from our rescue the first step is to complete our adoption application online at www.thelastresortrescue.com/adoptionapplication.htm
