Buddy was rescued from a public pound where he stayed for five months after being brought in as a stray. He was extremely emaciated and full of parasites at the time. The people working at the shelter were all in love with his personality and tried everything to get him a home.
After several years in various foster homes, Buddy is a very loving, big goofy dog. He loves people and he does NOT like to be left alone. If left outside alone in a fenced area, he will go over a 4’ fence OR he will dig under taller fences and he will go looking for company. He is strong and headstrong! He will still get excited and try to jump up on people to give kisses. He’s very social with everyone – including other dogs and children. His size and energy might be a bit overwhelming for younger children that he might knock over. Buddy will make a great companion for an experienced dog owner who will provide leadership for him.
Buddy does, however, have an issue with cats and should not be allowed access to them. So far he has not bothered small dogs, but as with any case, large dogs should not be left unsupervised with smaller pets.
If you think Buddy might be the perfect pup for you, please go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org, click on Forms/Application and complete your adoption application online. Please review our adoption process at http://www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/info/adoption and contact us if you have questions about the process.
We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible.
When your reference checks are completed and your application is tentatively approved, we will schedule a home visit and a meet-and-greet to see if Buddy picks you too.
If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption contract to be signed and a requested adoption donation.
Please feel free to email [email protected] if you have additional questions.
