10/08/2017 - UPDATE -
Hello out there! Barney here! I am in a great foster home right now, and I am happy here. I was so sad when my mommy died, then I wound up at a shelter. Finally, things are going my way. I do have arthritis problems in my hip and leg, but I get some medicine that helps. My foster dad says I can do the back steps at the house with some difficulty, but I am so eager to go in and out that I make it work. I am one tough cookie. Dad says I am doing really well overall. He says I actually gallop around the backyard in my happiness. One sort of interesting thing is that my foster sibling Lucky follows me everywhere. And I mean everywhere, inside and outside. Dad was watching it the other night and thinks that it may be because Lucky is part Corgi, and they have a herding instinct. Guess that means that this handsome guy (me) who is white and light buff may be mistaken for a sheep. Dad thinks watching us is a funny site. I think it is pretty funny that Lucky thinks I am a sheep. Lucky likes me a bunch so that is all that matters. Maybe Dad can dress me up as a sheep for Halloween! Dad says I am really being a good boy. I love getting my pets and hugs and as much attention as possible. I have been known to be cranky, but Dad knows my triggers and he does not upset me. He thinks that I will be a wonderful guy for some lucky family. I am so grateful to be here, but am so excited to think about meeting my new family and showing them as much love as I have in me. Please check in with CSAC and ask about Barney the only sheep in the rescue. Ha ha! I am eager to meet you. I will be the best boy and love you FOREVER. Hugs and kisses, Barney, the dog :)
MY ORIGINAL INTAKE INFORMATION:
Hi Everyone! My name is Barney, and I just arrived at CSAC from a shelter. My former owner passed away, and I was surrendered to a shelter. Right now, I am in the caring hands of one of the great Vets that work with the CSAC. They are checking me out and making sure I am healthy. I have severe arthritis in my hips and knees so I need medication to control my pain. I need a new home for my senior years. I need a home to love and take care of me for as long as I need. Is that you?

The medical and custodial care of the many Cockers in our care is tremendous. More and more dogs are abandoned with urgent and serious medical issues. We are committed to providing the best possible care for these forgotten friends. Unfortunately, the mounting high costs are beginning to limit the number of dogs we are able to take into our program. Even if you cannot adopt or foster one of our current adoptable dogs, please consider making a donation. The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, and your donations are entirely tax deductible. If you can help, please donate.
