Elf on the shelf! No, Elf in the foster house! I'm just a happy 3 year old pup. I am curious and friendly and my tail wags 24/7. I am a busy body, too – always on the move and spreading happiness to every corner.
Sometimes I take treats and sometimes I don't. But I'll take some peanut butter if you have some. I will also chew on bully sticks! I appreciate toys such as tennis balls and other small balls I can pick up. Crinkly toys are my favorite and I recently found that toys with multiple squeakers are amazing! My true motivation is fetch. I even get vocal when excited and want to play.
I’m proud to say that I am doing well on a leash. We have been going on 2-3 walks/day to practice and I'm a champion! I still need a little more leash etiquette, but I'm getting there! Large trucks/semi's make me nervous on walks, because I’m not sure if I’m in danger or not when they pass! Once they go by, I am cool again.
I’m working on understanding ‘sit’, 'wait', 'leave it', ‘kennel’, ‘come’, ‘up’, 'bedtime', and ‘off’. I also know my own name! Overall, I am house trained and am trying hard not to mark inside the house. It's hard to know what to do when another dog already had an accident there. So I wear a belly band for now. You'll be impressed to know that I am learning how to ring a bell to go to the bathroom outside! Nice, right?!
I'm crate trained, though sometimes will bark for a little, especially at night. I would rather be in bed with my family.
I do just swell with other dogs, but best with non alpha dogs since I'm not really submissive. If another dog instigates something, I am likely to be reactive. Otherwise, I really do so great with my canine pals and don't cause any problems! I have not been around a cat, but my foster family has a duck and I don’t mind it one bit! I don’t chase or bother it at all. I’m the perfect gentleman (errr, pup). I do like to chase leaves though!
Once I am comfortable in my home and with my people, I relax nicely. I like to lie down or keep you company on the couch, so we can watch TV together. We can even multi-task and you can give me pets and cuddles while we watch your favorite show! I even like to snuggle on car rides, though for my safety, a crate or seat belt might be best for me. Don't be fooled though. I have a naughty side too, and sometimes dabble in theivery and steal things to take them to my dog bed. It's kind of cute actually! I'm really such a good boy!
I'm 27 pounds of pure love and happiness! I’m Elf and I can bring you good health and wealth! Well - a wealth of joy and a healthy state of content!
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.
