Chipper the Dog needs a home
~~Chipper is a small dog, about the size of a min pin/chi mix. ?He is very much a lap dog. He loves to be with his people all the time and wants to be in their lap or laying in bed with them. He loves to lick and give kisses and play with chew toys. He craves attention from his people. He is very protective over the person that he bonds with the most. For instance, he is very protective over me and will growl and snip when my 9 year son or husband comes near me or even tries to pet him when he is near me. For this reason I would not recommend a home where there are small children around constantly. He is placed in his kennel when we are at work and at night. He will chew on things if left alone, possibly due to separation anxiety. He gets along great with my dogs but I don't know how he will be with other dogs. He is okay with older cats that can put him in his place but I don't recommend him with kittens. He is not mean to them but he wants to play and doesn't know how to be gentle with kittens. He has a couple of cute quirks. He will chase his own tail and lay on his back and chew his own paw. Not sure why but it's really cute. I don't know much of his background. I can tell you that in December I saw a post of Facebook from a lady who found him at her job. It was after hours and the gate that leads to their office was already locked. It if 8 ft. tall. She said she heard something screaming so she went outside and found him. It seems he had been tossed over the fence. He was emaciated and full of fleas. I saw her plea on Facebook for a rescue to help since her apt. didn't allow dogs. I met her and took him from her. He has been neutered, has his shots, and is micro-chipped. He is heartworm negative. I wouldn't let him outside of a fence without a leash or a harness on. He has only gotten out once and he didn't run off but it scared me enough that I wouldn't risk it. Based on his personality I think it will take a couple of weeks to adjust to his new environment. He will need someone with patience while the adjustment takes place.
