Adopt a Poodle (Toy) / Maltese / Mixed (short coat)
Zoey the Dog needs a home
Zoey is a sweet, busy, young Poodle/Maltese mix with maybe some West Highland Terrier in her it has been suggested. She is almost 10 lbs, a spayed female and is UTD on vetting. Zoey is guessed to be approximately 2 to 3 years old but acts more like a puppy. She is crate trained for sleeping at night. Zoey has a permanent long term condition whereby her knee caps are always out of place and as such her legs have adjusted to manage this condition. We have been advised by the veterinary professionals who have reviewed her case, that any type of surgery to help this issue will most likely not be in the best route to go for a number of reasons. This conformation issue sure does not slow her down in the least and she does not show any signs of pain or discomfort at this time. When she walks or runs it is in a crouch position or, she hops. When Zoey "stands", it is normal for her to look like she is posturing to go to the bathroom. Zoey will require joint supplements for the rest of her life to help her joints. Zoey has shown herself to be quite the tomboy and when she is on the go she loves to play and wrestle with anyone who is up for it. She loves to play hide and seek or peek-a-boo to egg on any other dogs in the house and will tug/walk any other dog around by their leash. She does like to do some occasional digging and pick up and chew leaves and sticks but also is content to chew on whatever you give her as toys. She would do best with tough chew toys as stuffed toys happily get "unstuffed" by her. She has a very "puppy like" attitude and energy. She has not met a dog yet that she doesn't like, but she does barrel right at them barking her gruff bark of excitement which might not always be a great first greeting depending on the other dog. Zoey does still do some puppy mouthing/chewing when playing or getting her harness on, especially when excited. Zoey is very outgoing girl, but can sometimes be nervous and will react/bark with new things or excitement in her surroundings. She would benefit from some training to help her direct her focus and contain her excitement. Zoey is very loving and bonds quickly to those who meet her. Zoey prefers to keep "her people" close. She is quite happy to be lying by your feet while sound asleep on the floor or snuggled in your lap. Zoey is not the best match for a home with cats as her terrier genes kick in when she sees the foster mom's cat and she will take chase; even when swatted she is not deterred.
