Adopt a Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat)
Trudy the Dog needs a home
THIS GIRL IS THE SWEETEST DOG, AND NEEDS SOMEONE TO TAKE CARE OF HER!
Animal Profile: Trudy is a 3-year-old Pitty at about 60 lbs. This sweet, joyous girl wants nothing more than to be with her people, snuggle up and give kisses. She immediately loves all people she meets and is wonderful with kids. She does well with other medium/large dogs as long as there is a slow and proper introduction. She walks very well on leash, is house trained, crate trained, knows basic commands (sit, down, no) and is very eager to learn. Trudy can't wait to to meet her forever family so she can share love and snuggles for the rest of her life.
Sadly Trudy has Stage 2 Hemangiosarcoma which is a cancer of the blood vessels. We have removed dermal hemangiosarcomas (skin cancers) on three occasions and have recently been treating her with a holistic supplement derived from a mushroom called Turkey Tail. This treatment has been gaining wide acclamation in the world of veterinary medicine for it's success in high profile studies where dogs with this type of cancer are living years longer than expected. After three months on this supplement, we have already noticed one of her largest lumps is externally untraceable. While we remain hopeful for the future, this type of cancer can be unpredictable - life expectancy is estimated anywhere from 1 to 5 years, we just don't know.
Special Needs: Trudy has skin cancer caused by sun exposure. She is a fair skinned white pitty, so she's vulnerable to this. Doggy sunscreen and t-shirts will help her stay protected, but it's likely this condition will ultimately take her life. If you have questions about her special needs, please don't hesitate to ask.
Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $200, which includes spay/neuter, current rabies/DAPPV/bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, heartworm test, transport from California to Seattle. Trudy has also had extensive vetting for her condition so any additional donations to her care are greatly appreciated. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue.
Animal History: This dog was rescued from euthanasia at a high-kill shelter in California.
