~~Hi! My name is Tilley. I am a 6 year old German Shepherd with a big heart and tons of life in left in me. I live with my humans and 3 furry things called cats. They don't bother me and I don't bother them. Mom and Dad tried to get me to play fetch, but I just watched one of the cats do it for me. I have more fun watching her chase the ball and bring it back.   We don’t play together, but we do peacefully co-exist with each other and that makes the whole household a fun and safe place to be. I am very affectionate and will give you a ton of kisses, if you give me the opportunity. I am very attached to all of my humans and am a textbook velcro GSD. I came to my humans as a foster when my original human daddy passed away suddenly. Boy, my world was lost for a while. I came to my foster home with little, if any, formal training, but they sent me to school and I have mastered a number of commands. I am still a work in progress, but with love and support, I have become a more relaxed dog. I am really smart and I pick up on direction very quickly and do very well with it.  I like to chase me some small critters, so I make the squirrels, chipmunks, possums and flying squirrels earn the meals they get from my humans’ bird feeder. I do not chase deer. They are just too fast and no fun. I am not much of a barker and mind my manners pretty well. Guys will like me, because I REALLY like riding in trucks (shotgun, of course) and I belch. Now, if I could only learn how to drink beer and scratch myself…  Belly rubs are a real favorite for me. Just give me a belly rub and we are friends forever! If you don’t rub my belly enough, I will let you know pretty quickly.  I've not lived with any little humans, but I'm fine with the ones I've met. They are kind of cute. I do NOT like door bells and the garbage man’s backing-up signal upsets me. I can become very protective of my humans when new people come to our home.  I will need proper and supervised introductions until I know they are A-OK. I have NO food aggression, but I do miss my mom and dad when they leave the house. So, I would appreciate it if I find a family that someone works from home or retired, so I can be with you ALL the time.  I am house-trained and have learned to walk VERY well with a leash.  My favorite things to do are to go on walks, catch doggie treats tossed in my direction, chill out in the yard and spend time with my humans.  I need some Shepherd people with lots of love and take the time to show me how to meet new people and dogs, so I know they are not going to hurt me or my humans. I am a very good dog and will always love and protect you-I promise! Won't you please give me a furever home?

I am currently being fostered in Glade Valley, NC, which sits in the mountains near the VA border.  If you think Tilley would be a great fit for your family, please fill out an application or contact your adoption coordinator.  If you do not yet have an adoption coordinator, please complete an adoption application at southeastgermanshepherdrescue.com.
