Adopt a Shepherd / Hound / Mixed

AN ADORABLE & SWEET FELLOW:  10 years old / 54 lbs.  Mostly Mutts adoption facility is open Mon-Sat. 11-4pm.  Some of us are in foster homes so please call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week.  I’m a sweet boy who loves chin scratches and enjoys being petted for as long as you like.  I also like snuggling with my people.  When I arrived at MM’s I had a large hanging tumor on my hind leg that caused sitting to be impossible, so I either stood or laid down.  Now that it’s been removed as well as another one on my back, I’m getting around so much better and can sit!  I had a lot of hind leg weakness too, but that’s already improving!  I however shouldn’t live in a home with too many stairs and it’s much easier for me to walk on carpeted areas or hard floors that have rugs.  I like the other 2 dogs in my foster home, so if you have a nice dog at home, let’s meet and see if we can be good friends.  I have a little mischievous side which is kind of cute given my age.  I once took a fork from the dishwasher and I like socks that may be laying around. I also like to gently pull things like blankets and pillows onto the floor with me.  I haven’t gotten on the furniture, due to my leg weakness, but since I’m improving I may want to sit with you one day soon on the furniture.  I like Kong’s with a little something in them, and I love puzzle type dog toys, like the balls that you have to work to get the treats or kibble out of them.  My body may be slower, but my mind is sharp!  I crate well in my foster home and have done well with my potty manners on a good schedule, but of course I can’t hold it all day.  Since I’m an older fellow, I have some diminished eye sight, but it’s not too bad, just be careful when giving me treats from your hand as I LOVE treats and have accidentally gobbled at hands holding treats.  Oops, I didn’t mean to.  I’m super treat motivated, so you can use that to teach me things.  I love being outside in my yard with my people or another nice dog for a little while, sniffing around and enjoying the sun and a gentle breeze.  I get little burst of energy when I’m outside, and I also ride well in the car and enjoy short walks.  I’ve loved both grownups and kids but can get a little rambunctious if they are high energy, so older kids would be best due to my size and that I take food or treats a bit roughly.  Energy level:  4-6.  Sadly, I wasn't kept on Heart Worm prevention in my previous home, but I’ll easily be treated for that at home with a specific heart worm monthly treat.  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, neutered    and my adoption fee is $275.00.
