RESCUING SAGA

Sagas owner moved out of his apartment and when the owner came to change the locks, he found Saga and 2 other dogs. Saga had been badly attacked and the landlord called Animal Control. The tenant came to reclaim the other dogs and left poor Saga behind. She has an infected and swollen leg, a ton of old and new scars, an issue with her eye, and hair loss all over her poor little body. On top of all of this, she is heartworm positive.

ABOUT SAGA

Saga is an excited, animated beauty that has not quite grasped the concept of not jumping up on people. She just loves everyone! Once her initial excitement subsides, she is an extremely well behaved little lady. She loves food and has no shame telling her foster-dad to scoop her breakfast faster. She eats very fast so her foster-dad got her a special food bowl to slow her down. Saga is camera shy. Her foster-dad says she can be on her back, rolling around on her blanket, grunting and groaning, having herself a grand ol time, but as soon as the camera comes out she sits up and looks at you as if to say I wasnt doing anything! At first, Saga was terrified of the crate, but she is learning that it is not such a scary place. She is now getting accustomed to eating in her crate and her foster-dad is taking baby steps to ensure she is comfortable with being crated.

Saga loves her bone and she likes to hide her toys in her blanket. She likes her blanket as she arranges it and gets confused when her foster-dad tries to folder it or change her bed. Saga has met her doggie foster siblings while on a leash and everything has been hunky dory so far. She is not reactive and seems to not mind them. When she is leashed, she does a lot of sitting down and looking up at the person holding the leash. Saga is smart, attentive, and assured of herself, but when introduced to new things she is timid and cautious, yet curious. She knows sit, no, outside, easy, and down. She is a big love-bug, enjoys attention. She grunts, groans, and carries on vocally while getting ear scratchies, back rubs, etc. She has been very friendly, engaging, and polite for all of the human visitors in her foster home.

Her wounds and infections have healed. Much of her hair has yet to grow back and we are not sure if it ever will. Our vet wants to wait until she gets more hair back before treating her heartworms. Saga will be available for adoption when her heartworms have been treated.
