Recently, one of our dedicated FPALR volunteers was alerted to a dire situation and sprung into action. Smokey, a Russian Blue cat, was abandoned by his previous owner last summer when they moved, and since then this handsome guy has been fending for himself on the streets. When the weather turned frigid, Smokey's life was in jeopardy, and making it worse, he was attacked by a dog and was injured. Thanks to the heroic action by a FPALR volunteer who drove from Naperville to Elgin to rescue Smokey and bring him for treatment at our vet, the cat had his wound cleaned and stitched, antibiotics administrated and is now recovering at our volunteer's home. We are happy to report that Smokey is expected to make a full recovery and will soon be available for adoption. Smokey is amazingly sweet considering the ordeal he suffered, seeking out affection from his foster family and purring with delight when they dote on him. He knows he is safe and sound. Smokey is approximately 4 years old and will be available to adopt when he is is back to full health. Email us at [email protected] if you are interested in being his new family.
