Paul the Dog needs a home
Beautiful and sweet chocolate lab!! This very loving, HW+ boy was being cared for at the FW shelter when we found him. Because of the length of his stay there and his heartworm diagnosis, we were afraid he was being overlooked. He was very scared at the shelter, but has adjusted into his foster home with no problems. Paul is still timid around new experiences, but good around people and other dogs and cats. He seems to be a pretty chill guy.
A heartworm diagnosis is not a death sentence! PacoCorp Rescue is committed to making Paul heartworm free! Due to the high expense and danger of the fast kill method and also because of Paul's age, our vet has recommended that he can simply keep taking Heartguard Plus regularly each month until the adult worms die (about 1-2 years). And then, of course, he should be kept on heartworm prevention regularly after that, too! Basically, this is something that must be done for every dog's health.
