Meet our beautiful, Sierra.
This beautiful girl came directly from the streets of rural South Dallas. We are talking completely scared of humans, had her babies in a drain pipe under a driveway in a culvert. She had to be trapped to bring her into rescue with her babies. But, I must say it was breakfast tacos and the love of so many volunteers that taught her to trust humans.
Today, she is in a foster home where she is loved by both the humans and the canines. It is going to take a special family and pack to adopt our gorgeous girl and help her to continue to become the best dog that we know she can be.
What her foster mom loves to brag about:
She walks great with my pack.
She is housebroken.
She has no food aggression.
She loves to wrestle with my lab mix. So I think she would be best in a home with another dog.
She has gotten along fine with other dogs we have met in the neighborhood.
She's never had an accident or chewed up anything.
She sleeps in our bedroom at night.
She knows sit and down, as long as you have a treat.
She's a great car rider! She sits in the middle of the backseat and looks around for a while, but pretty quickly she just lays down till you arrive. She doesn't like the windows down, though.
Some things to consider . . . .
She is pretty prey driven. (Would like a home with no cats, but squirrels she would love to chase for you.)
She occasionally has toy aggression with my dogs, but never gets upset when we take it from her.
She has never been crated, but was great in the corral during her heart worm treatment and even after.
She is still very skittish with people, even with us sometimes. We think she would be best with a couple without kids, as sudden noises really startle her.
Whoever adopts her will have to be very patient as she learns to trust a new family.
Sierra continues to wear a tracking device on her collar. She slipped out of her foster home very early on and had to be caught again, but that was many months ago. She now no longer looks for opportunities to escape, but safety measures would need to be put into place to insure her safety in a new home.
Sierra is a wonderful girl who still has some quirky moments as she adjusts to life in a loving family. We believe with time, she will bond with a wonderful family and know that she is loved, safe and cherished.
