Adopt a Yellow Labrador Retriever (short coat)

Yellow Labrador Retriever (short coat) Dog

Lucas the Dog needs a home

To be considered for adopting a dog from Canine Lifeline, you must have an approved application must be on file. Please visit http://www.caninelifeline.org/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application.

Lucas is a very handsome 2 year-old Yellow Lab who had the misfortune of not only being homeless at an overcrowded county dog shelter but also testing positive for heartworms there making his chances for adoption very slim. Lucas made the trip to Canine Lifeline so that he would be able to get the lifesaving treatment that he needed. He has gone through his treatment and done very well so is now ready to find himself a great new home. Lucas is a dog-friendly guy who would enjoy having another canine pal in his new home. He would do best with a yard with a tall privacy fence as he can get over a 4 foot fence. Lucas is a very loyal dog who likes to be close to his people. He had to endure strict cage rest while he was recuperating from his treatment and was not a fan of that. Lucas would do best in a home where his family is around most of the time so he wouldn’t have to spend much time in a crate. He’s a high energy young dog but he does walk amazingly well on a leash so seems to have had some prior training in that area. Lucas weighs about 55 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, current on monthly heartworm preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email

An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.

Lucas’
heartworm treatment cost about $750. If you’d like to make a donation to help with his care so that we may save another dog in the future, please do so on our website at

or by sending a check to Canine Lifeline, PO Box 25742, Garfield Hts OH 44125. Thank you from Lucas and Canine Lifeline!
