Toby - ADOPTED! the Dog needs a home


Toby was originally found by a police officer a few years ago chained to a tree. He was adopted to a local family with a young toddler, and settled in quickly. At Christmas, Toby’s mom and toddler son were building a ginger bread house, when toddler went to share some food with Toby, and then tried to take the food back out of his mouth. Toby was going for the food, not the toddler, and nipped him. No damage, or stitches, and we really feel Toby was put in a bad position. Toby’s dad got angry and wanted him removed from the home, so his mom reached out to one of our volunteers for help. 




Toby is being fostered with multiple small dogs, and a kitty, and does well with both.  His foster mom describes him as a very sweet dog who is more mellow than active. He does ok on a leash, but has not had a lot of practice. He’s a pretty confident, well-adjusted pup who likes to lay beside his foster mom on the couch, or follow her around.  He shares toys well with the other dogs, and takes treats very gently from her hand. We’ve been really monitoring that to see if there are any issues. He’s potty trained, and being introduced to the crate.
